A Labor of Love

Before you read on, I should warn you, this post could get mushy. I can’t tell you about what I’m about to tell you about without getting teary eyed and emotional.

Last Saturday Tuck completed a full landscape installation for a family in Draper. Complete with a back patio privacy fence, patio extension with Belgard pavers, a boulder retaining wall in the front yard, beautiful large trees to soften the home and provide more privacy, and irrigation for new flower beds and sod. Our goal was to minimize maintenance, decrease water usage, and increase the aesthetic value of the home.

Now let me tell you a little bit about this family. The father is terminally ill. He was diagnosed with prostate cancer 6 years ago and has fought his cancer valiantly with every type of treatment including participation in studies for new experimental medications. Sadly, with no success. He was able to watch on Saturday as a beautiful outdoor living space was created at his home. A place he knows his family will be able to enjoy together when he’s gone.

Here’s the touching part of the story. When this project was announced at Tuck, handfuls of our guys offered to volunteer their time to make it happen. We had 20 people show up that day, sacrificing their Saturday, giving their free time, to be a part of this special project. These guys work so hard all day long everyday through the week and still, there they were. On a Saturday, with smiles on their faces, ready to work, for free! It was heartwarming to watch as they made magic happen at the home of this sweet family.

Tuck Landscape is a company that believes in giving back to the community and strives to cultivate a corporate culture that values service. We couldn’t be more proud of our team of guys. And we couldn’t be more grateful to all of our vendors who so generously donated materials and services to this project.

Our hearts are full as we send this family much love and wish them well on their difficult journey ahead.
